The 6 by 2026 campaign is a multi-phase initiative to develop and fundraise the expansion of the EnergyXP program by the Energy Education Foundation (EEF). Developing and deploying more XP units empowers EEF’s central mission of cultivating the next generation of energy leaders, specifically through STEM education programs like EnergyXP.
STEM Education & Career Development Crisis in the United States
According to the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development’s (OECD) Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), the United States ranks 30th in mathematics and 11th in science out of 64 countries, based on results from 15-year-old students worldwide in 2019.
At the same time, the National Center for Education Statistics reports that only one in five U.S. high school students are adequately prepared for college-level STEM coursework. These findings reveal a growing challenge, where students often lack access to the learning resources and real-world experiences needed to build a strong foundation in science, technology, engineering, and math. The demand for STEM talent continues to rise.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics discovered that jobs in computing, engineering, advanced manufacturing, and other STEM-related fields are projected to grow 10% between 2023 and 2033, which is nearly three times faster than non-STEM careers. Strengthening early STEM education is essential to meet this demand and prepare students to power the energy landscape. EnergyXP directly addresses this lack of STEM readiness with current educational standards, as well as the shortage of talent workers in the energy sector.
EnergyXP – Experience Energy In Action
EnergyXP is designed to be an immersive, dynamic educational program. Students will strengthen foundational STEM skills that help them become future energy professionals by showcasing the relevance of energy in everyday life through energy-related modules and lessons.
