Women’s History Month Highlight: Lyndal Cissell

Highlighting the Grit and Determination of Lyndal Cissell

In celebration of Women’s History Month, it’s important to recognize the trailblazing women who have made significant contributions in their respective fields. One such woman is Lyndal Cissell, a board member of the Energy Education Foundation (EEF), Managing Director at SLB, and a leader in the energy industry.

Lyndal’s journey in the energy industry began when she was studying Geomorphology in college. Realizing that it would be a challenge to find remunerative employment in her field, she researched the best careers in STEM and found that petroleum engineering was at the top of the list. She switched schools and programs and never looked back.

Throughout her career, Lyndal has had amazing mentors and managers who have challenged her and given her new opportunities to learn and grow. Her mother was also an important role model who taught her that learning is lifelong and grit is the secret ingredient to success.

Today, Lyndal sees the most important function of her work in the energy industry as driving energy innovation for a balanced planet. She is committed to moving further and faster in driving the world’s ongoing energy transition.

As a board member of the Energy Education Foundation, Lyndal understands the importance of providing an open platform to share with society the value of the industry. Petroleum products are part of every fabric of our lives today, from medical products to our homes and our food chain. The EEF serves as an education platform to inspire future engineers to solve the complex challenges facing the industry and to be inspired by the opportunities to help the world face its greatest balancing act.

Lyndal Cissell is an inspiration to women and men alike in the energy industry. Her commitment to driving energy innovation and her work with the EEF are critical in shaping the future of the industry. We should all take note of her success and learn from her example of hard work, determination, grit, and lifelong learning.
